I got my yearbook today…
Some of the things people wrote were just so nice. I was honestly shocked. I mean I expected it from my besties to be all sentimental and love-y, but from people I don’t even talk to that much or aren’t super good friends with….
“I’m so glad you got to play Samantha [a jazz song with an alto feature] in jazz band; you really are an inspiring sax player. Someone as fun and good as you only comes through once in a blue moon.”
“You are an incredible friend, an intelligent person, and a total inspiration…I’m very happy that I got to know you, I would have been worse off if I hadn’t.”
“It has been a true honor knowing you and being associated with you! Your talents and friendly personality will really be missed and will take you all the way.”
“In all my years I’ve never known someone so trusting, responsible, and fun. I can tell from just knowing you that you are going places.”
“You were always enthusiastic about marching band and it was really inspiring for a lot of people.”
“Your kindness and ability to inspire are very rare gifts that I know you will share with the rest of the world.”
And several people said stuff about how I was going to be famous. Haha
Like really, guys. If I wasn’t going to cry before, I can’t even help it now. If these people are really sincere—and I suspect they are because it’s easy to tell the people that don’t give a shit about what they are writing (aka ‘HAGS’)— then I feel so loved and I don’t even know. It’s a good feeling, but it makes me sad and sentimental too.
The band really has been my family throughout the years. I love those kids to death and to hear it all back makes me just feel good.
